D.C.M. London Gazette 10 January, 1920 (Southwater).
“On 26th August 1918 in the attack near Maricourt this warrant officer together with an officer and eighteen men secured a commanding position about 1000 yards in front of the main line. The party was subjected to heavy enfilade machine gun fire, the officer and twelve men becoming casualties. He immediately took command of the post and beat off an enemy counter attack. He subsequently held on for eight hours, encouraging and controlling his men and by his cheerfulness and tenacity enabled the troops on his flank to advance.”
The officer mentioned in the above citation was 2nd Lieutenant C. L. Moore, who died of wounds.
