C. G. A. Coleman qualified for his Naval long service medal as Chief Electrical Artificer on H.M.S. Collingwood, and became Commissioned Electrical Officer in December 1948. In that rank he served aboard the aircraft carrier Implacable, and in Korea aboard the aircraft carrier Glory. Promoted to El.Sub.Lt. in 1956, and El.Lt. in 1957, he subsequently served on Nuthatch, Ariel, Heron and Falcon.
