Leslie Digby Foxton was commissioned 2 Lt., York and Lancaster Regiment,14 July, 1949; Lieut., 14 July, 1951. Although not regimentally present in Korea, Lieutenant Foxton was attached to the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (‘X’ Company), and was killed in action on 6 October, 1951, aged 22, at Kojansang-Ni during operation ‘Commando’. He was the only officer of the York and Lancs. to be killed in the Korean War. Sold with a colour photograph of his grave and further research including full details of operation ‘Commando’ taken from St. George’s Gazette.
