William James Carter enlisted at Bournemouth on 19 September, 1938, as Driver, Royal Army Service Corps. From 25 October, 1950, he was attached to the 26th Field Ambulance and was present at the battle of Imjin River where he was wounded (Ref. The Times 2 May, 1951). His widow, from whom the vendor purchased these medals, states that he was shot in the stomach by a machine gun burst. His Soldier’s Service Book shows that he was employed as a parachutist 1945-48.
