M.C. London Gazette 8 November, 1915, ‘for distinguished service in the field during the operations at the Dardanelles.
M.I.D. London Gazette 5 November, 1915.
The battalion War Diary for May 25th, 1915, states: ‘Lt. R.G. Wood wounded in an attempt to rescue a wounded man of 1/10 Manch. Regt. from their advanced trench.’ It is probable that this action resulted in the award of his Military Cross.
