James Watt was born at Dundee, Forfarshire, and attested for the 42nd Regiment in January 1804 at the age of fourteen. He was a Drummer throughout his service which is shown as being ‘At Gibraltar from 1805 to 1809 (Four Years). At Flushing & on the Peninsula & France nine months. Remaining period at Home.’ He did not serve at Waterloo and was discharged in August 1830. Sold with copy discharge papers.
