Beonna (c.758), KINGS OF EAST ANGLIA, Beonna (c.758), beonna rex, partly runic, pellet in annulet in centre, reverse wereferth, partly runic, in angles of a beaded cross with a lozenge centre enclosing a pierced annulet and four pellets, 1.02 gms (cf. Archibald “The Coinage of Beonna”, BNJ pp.10-54, pl. 5, O1/R1; N. 430; S.847). Obverse about very fine, reverse better than fine but left margin a little weak, very rare, moneyer excessively so (£600-800)
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of Anglo-Saxon and Earlier Hammered Coins formed by the late Captain 'Peter' Arnot.
