Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Penny, 1860, type 1 [1+A], silver, laureate bust left, reverse Britannia seated to right on rock, GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND, value expressed as 1D, edge plain, struck en médaille, 11.83gm (Freeman 825 [not in Sale]; BMC 2099). Light hairlines on obverse and scratches on cheek, characteristic group of rust spots by olive branch, sometime cleaned but otherwise extremely fine and retaining much brilliance, extremely rare (£600-700)
