The Token Corresponding Society was launched in the summer of 1971 by the late Christopher Brunel and Jean M. White. They aimed to produce a bi-monthly Bulletin featuring a blend of articles, notes and queries on tokens of all kinds, a policy that subsequent editors, Tony Gilbert, Andrew Andison and currently Gary Oddie, have successfully maintained. The Society went through a hiatus between 1978 and 1984 when the Bulletin was not published, before being resurrected at the 1984 Token Congress in Darlington
