One officer and 24 other ranks of the 3rd Battalion, The King’s Royal Rifle Corps fought at Abu Klea, Lieutenant Marling winning the Victoria Cross for his gallantry in the action.
Lance Corporal D. Thoward was slightly wounded on 10 January 1885.
