61st (South Gloucestershire) Regiment Officer’s Battalion Companies Shako Plate 1844-55, a superb example in copper gilt crowned and pointed star, the seven points with battle honours and overlay comprising demi-wreaths of laurel and palm enclosing an oblong strap ‘S. Gloucestershire’ this encloses a domed oval bearing milled numerals ‘61’, at the base of the wreaths a scroll ‘Peninsula’ and below this the Sphinx/Egypt. Complete with both fastening lugs and both sets of wires behind the crown, the plate retains 100% original fire gilt £800-1000
