John Waye was born in the Parish of Southouter [?], Devon, and first enlisted into the 46th Foot on 18 January 1802, a wool-comber by trade. He enlisted into the 1/28th Foot on 18 July 1804, aged ‘thirty four and one half’ years, and was discharged on 31 August 1814, in consequence of ‘a Gun Shot Wound recd. through the thigh at Vittoria, 21 June 1813’. Sold with copied discharge papers.
