Alexander Stewart qualified Bachelor of Arts, Trinity College, Dublin, in 1812, and was appointed Assistant Surgeon, 6th Garrison Battalion, on 25 November 1813. Placed on half-pay, 5 February 1815, he exchanged to full pay in the 28th Foot on 9 February 1815, and served with that regiment at Quatre Bras and Waterloo. Placed on half-pay in August 1819, he exchanged to the 2nd Dragoons on 1 March 1821, and was appointed Surgeon on the Staff on 15 May 1835. He died at Falmouth in Jamaica on 20 October 1837.
