Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (645 Drummer J. Richardson, 75th. Foot) traces of lacquer, good very fine £70-90

John Richardson was born on 31 January 1841 in Dinapore, India, and attested for the 10th (North Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot at Londonderry on 31 January 1855. Appointed a Drummer on 6 February 1857, he served with the Regiment in India during the Great Sepoy Mutiny (entitled to an Indian Mutiny Medal with clasp Lucknow). He transferred to the 75th (Stirlingshire) Regiment of Foot on 1 March 1859, and continued as a Drummer, being awarded his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 3 April 1880, shortly before his discharge on 22 June of that year, after 21 years and 137 days’ service.
