William Craggs was born in Durham, and served during the Great War with the 7th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment on the Western Front. In Spring 1916 the 7th Battalion was in action at the Bluff, south-west of Ypres. Craggs was killed in action, 1 March 1916, and is buried in the Voormezeele Enclosure No. 3, Ypres, Belgium.
