M.C. London Gazette 16 September 1918:
‘2nd Lieutenant Harry Erskine Tunnicliffe, South Wales Borderers (Special Reserve). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As brigade intelligence officer during an enemy attack he worked untiringly all day visiting brigade outposts or battalion headquarters. Most of the areas over which he passed were being heavily shelled, but regardless of the risk he gained or transmitted useful information.’
