Private James Mahoney, South Wales Borderers, entered the Balkan (Gallipoli) theatre of war on 19 July 1915. He earned the M.M. with the 4th Battalion South Wales Borderers. The battalion moved to Mudros and thence Egypt in January 1916 and then in March 1916 it was posted to Mesopotamia. Maloney was transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 24 February 1919.
