Charles I (1625-1649), Tower mint, Shilling, Gp C, mm. plume, bust 2 variety (in the style of class C III Unite), wire-line circle either side of beaded inner circle, pellet stops, rose-petal garniture to shield, cr above divided by pellet-in-annulet (?), 5.66g/2h (Sharp C2a/5; SCBI Brooker –; N 2221; S 2787). Possibly a fine-work issue, about very fine, apparently UNIQUE

Struck from a pair of dies which are not part of the normal sequence. The bust resembles that on the unites, while the reverse, with a small uncertain symbol above the shield (probably a pellet-in-annulet) and rose-petal garniture at the base, is unlike any other reverse of the type. Rose-petal garniture is normally only found on coins with mm. rose
