Frederick James Tackley was educated at Queen’s College, Oxford, and the University of the Cape of Good Hope, and was ordained Deacon in 1893 and Priest in 1894. He served as the Precentor of Cape Town Cathedral from 1897-1901, and was acting chaplain to the Forces in South Africa from 1901-02. He subsequently served as Chaplain of Trinity Hospital, Greenwich, from 1914-30, and was later Rector of Hartest, Bury St. Edmunds. He died on 28 May 1934.
