Evans Belcher was appointed Acting Chaplain of the 28th Staffordshire Rifle Volunteer Corps on 8 March 1876, and was awarded the Volunteer Officers’ Decoration in November 1896, whilst serving as Acting Chaplain of the 1st Volunteer Battalion, The Prince of Wales’s North Staffordshire Regiment.
