Everett Melville Aitken, a United Church Minister from Calgary, Alberta, was born in 1899 and served as Chaplain to the Reserve Army in Canada. He subsequently served as Commissioner to the General Council of the United Church of Canada, Chairman of the Overseas Mission Board, and President of the Hamilton Conference of the United Church of Canada. His lasting legacy was instituting a radio ministry in Calgary in order to preach to vast areas of Western Canada. He died in 1986 and is buried in The People’s Cemetery, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
