Centenary of the Foundation of the Wesleyan Methodist Society, 1839, a white metal medal by C.F. Carter, bust of Wesley left, reverse Centenary Hall, Bishopsgate, 65mm (BHM 1895; E 1329; Taylor 127b); together with The Revd. William Jay, 1841, a copper medal, signed SK, 49mm (BHM 2005; Taylor 74a) [2]. First about extremely fine, second very fine (£50-60)

Revd. William Jay (1769-1853), a dissenting minister who as a teenager worked as an apprentice stonemason on the erection of Fonthill Abbey, Wiltshire. Jay was ordained pastor of the Argyle Independent Chapel, Bath, in 1791, an office he held until his death 62 years later
