François Ignace Baetes (1826-90), founded the Antwerp engraving and die-sinking manufactory which bore his name in 1852. The reverse of the 1910 International Congress medal, by the Darmstadt artist Rudolf Bosselt, is one of the earliest Art Deco medallic representations, and even now can be viewed as a brilliantly original design at least 15 years ahead of its time
