David McIntosh was a native of Montrose. He served during the Great War with the 1/5th (Angus and Dundee) Battalion, Royal Highlanders in the French theatre of war from 11 November 1914. McIntosh transferred to the 154th Company, Machine Gun Corps, 16 August 1916. He served with the latter in the same theatre, advancing to Corporal and winning the M.M. with the unit.

Corporal McIntosh is recorded as ‘died of wounds 25 October 1918’ on the British War and Victory Medal roll, however, he is not recorded as such on the Commonwealth War Graves or in
Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914-1919.
