M.C. London Gazette 16 September 1918:

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When all other officers of his company had been killed, he rallied his men in a desperate effort to gain the objective. When forced to withdraw he collected them in the front line and regardless of machine-gun fire, walked along the parapet encouraging them. For the remainder of the day he worked incessantly in bringing back wounded.’

Lewis Herbert Bowles Price was born in 1897 on the Wirral, Cheshire. He was educated at St Bees School, Cumbria, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant from Cadet into the 4th (Denbighshire) Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, on 23 November 1916, entering France on 27 March 1917. He is recorded as ‘Wounded, France, Belgium’ in the St Bees Roll of Honour. He subsequently transferred to the Royal Air Force on 2 October 1918, and was made Lieutenant, 4th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, on 26 January 1926.
