Frank Wilcox was born in Woolaston, Monmouthshire in 1893, and attested for the South Wales Borderers. He served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 5 September 1915 from where, after spending a short period in the line, they proceeded to the Balkans where the battalion fought for the remainder of the war. Frank Wilcox died on 12 April 1918 in Salonika and is buried in Salonika (Lembet Road) Military Cemetery, Greece.

Edward John Wilcox was the older brother of Frank Wilcox. He served in the same battalion as his brother, likewise serving on the Western Front from 5 September 1915, and records show he was admitted to the 28th General Hospital in 1916 suffering from pyrexia of unknown origin. He rejoined his battalion the same year and survived the War to be given a class Z discharge on 18 April 1919.
