Frederick Dinnage was born in Horsham, Sussex, in 1891. A pre-War Territorial Soldier with the Royal Sussex Regiment, he served with the 4th Battalion during the Great War, and was one of only 107 men from the Regiment to receive the Territorial Force War Medal. He subsequently served with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and the Royal Engineers (Territorial Force).
