John Latchford enlisted into the Rifle Brigade sometime prior to April 1843, when he joined the Regiment at Corfu. He served during the Kaffir Wars of 1846-47 and 1850-53 where, as a member of the regimental band, he spent the entire period stationed at Fort Beaufort and is never recorded as going out on patrol in the musters. He afterwards served in the Crimea and received the medal with four clasps and probably the Turkish medal as well. Sold with research.
