The Brioni Old Course, at Fazana, Croatia, opened in 1922, was said at the time to be the largest golf course on mainland Europe. The 18-hole course was designed by Tom Simpson and George Thomas. The ‘79’ on the medal almost certainly refers to the number of strokes played; today the course is a par 72
