William Kerry was born in Oxford and enlisted there for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 2/4th Battalion in France and died on 28 July 1918, whilst in a Prisoner of War camp and is buried in Niederzwerhren Cemetery, Kassel Hessen, Germany.
