Norman Pilkington was born at Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1909, and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 2nd Battalion in India and Burma, and subsequently with 1st Battalion during the Second World War as part of the British Expeditionary Force, and was killed in action in the retreat to Dunkirk on 26 May 1940. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Dunkirk Memorial, France.
