Three: Lieutenant W. D. Drayton, Buckinghamshire Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry

William David Drayton was born at Tottenham, London in 1893 and having attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry served in the ranks of the 1st/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 30 July 1918, and was promoted Lieutenant on 31 January 1920. His medal index card also notes service with 53rd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Reverting to the Buckinghamshire Battalion, he relinquished his commission on 30 September 1921, and died at Ampthill, Bedfordshire, in January 1970.
