Ernest Arkell attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at Oxford and served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 March 1915. He was killed in action on 23 July 1916, during the Battle of the Somme, and is buried at Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle, France.
Leonard Joseph Tucker, a native of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, was born in 1898 and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at Oxford. He served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 March 1915, and died of wounds on 24 August 1917. He is buried at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
