James Philip Rawlinson, who was born in Dunkinfield, Cheshire, died of wounds received in an attack on Hai Salient, Mesopotamia on 20 February 1917, while serving in the 8th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment. He was 28 years of age, was a founder member of the Dunkinfield Volunteer Corps and left a widow, Mary, resident at Ashton-under-Lyne. Rawlinson has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial.
