Cecil Herbert Lawton, who was born in Hulme, Manchester, but resident at Hattersley Mottram at the time of his enlistment, was killed in action in Belgium on 2 November 1917, while serving in the 1/7th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He was 25 years of age and is buried in Coxyde Military Cemetery, Kokslijde.
