John Henry Griffiths, who was born in Manchester, was killed in action at Houthulst Wood in the Ypres salient on 22 October 1917, while serving in the 23rd (8th Pals) Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He was 42 years of age, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
