80 medals for Perak issued to ‘C’ Company, Queen’s Own Madras Sappers & Miners.

Lieutenant Arthur Howlett served as an Assistant Field Engineer in the operations in the Malay Peninsula in 1875-76 (Perak Medal with Clasp). As Colonel took part in the expedition to Manipur in 1891 (Despatches
London Gazette 14 August 1891; Clasp N.E. Frontier 1891); and commanded the Tashon Column in the operations in the Chin Hills, Burma, 1892. He retired with the rank of Colonel on 1 January 1902.
