Charles Wilmot was born on 10 August 1932. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on 1 August 1952 and was promoted to Lieutenant in August 1954 and Captain in August 1958; ranked as Temporary Major in June 1961 and in January-November 1962. Specially employed with the Malaya Military Forces, October 1958-March 1962. The Royal Sussex Regiment did not serve as a unit in Malaya.
