James Henry Fitzsimon was born on 27 June 1919. From Sandhurst he was commissioned into the Royal hampshire Regiment on 1 July 1939. Promoted to Lieutenant in January 1941. He was ranked an Acting Captain in August 1945 and promoted to that rank in July 1946. Was an Acting Major, May-October 1946; Temporary Major, December 1950, and attained the rank of Major in July 1952. He retired from the Army on 29 June 1960. Served during 1950-53 with the Nigeria Regiment of the R.W.A.F.F. The lack of promotion during the years 1941-45 may indicate that he was a prisoner-of-war.
