Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 2 clasps, Alexandria 11th July, Tel-El-Kebir (W. H. Anstiss, A.B. H.M.S. “Monarch”) light pitting, otherwise good very fine and a scarce combination of clasps £250-300

Approximately 19 men of Monarch were present at Tel-el-Kebir, all of whom also received the clasp for Alexandria. Some 137 medals were issued with these two clasps to naval personel.

William Henry Anstiss was born at Pulgrove, Suffolk, and joined the Royal Navy on 5 April 1876. He served aboard Monarch from January 1882 until April 1885, and was invalided from Netley on 5 June 1890 (ADM 188/82).
