Albert Stancombe was born on 13 September 1883 at Gunnislake, Cornwall. An Engine Driver by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Engineers on 6 December 1901. He served from 6 September 1901 until 13 May 1906 when he was discharged at Victoria, British Columbia, on being transferred to the Canadian Militia. He was discharged on 13 May 1906. He then attested for the Royal Canadian Engineers on 14 May 1906 and attained the rank of Sergeant in December 1917. During the Great War he enlisted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 22 June 1918, being demobilized in Victoria, B.C., on 31 March 1919. Stancombe was awarded the Permanent Forces of the Empire L.S. & G.C. in 1920, being published in the Canada Gazette of 24 July 1920. Sold with copied attestation and other papers.
