Ernest Bingham was born in Tasmania on 2 September 1868. H joined the New Zealand Police on 13 February 1897 and was promoted to Sergeant on 8 May 1911. He was awarded the New Zealand Police L.S. & G.C. on 13 February 1911. with some copied research.
