Auction Catalogue
Guernsey was occupied by German Forces on 30 June 1940. German currency began to circulate alongside local notes and coinage, but the latter quickly began to disappear. Two issues of emergency money were authorised, which led to the printing of paper currency notes covering seven denominations from Sixpence to One Pound. All notes carry the printed signature of H.E. Marquand, States treasurer, and are listed by denomination to highlight the running order of prefixes.
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Peter Stanton Collection of Paper Money of Guernsey.
