John Richard Leadbeter was born in Enfield, Middlesex, and enlisted into the Corps of Armourers in December 1876. He served in India from 1887 to 1899, for the greater part as Armourer Sergeant to the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, and served with the Tirah Expeditionary Force on the Punjab Frontier in 1897-98 (Medal with two clasps). He received his L.S. & G.C. medal in July 1895, and was discharged to pension in December 1901. Sold with copy service papers.
