A COLLECTION OF 1851 GREAT EXHIBITION MEDALS, Services Medals, 1851 (3), in bronze, by W. Wyon, similar, edge named (Sir Richard Pakenham; C.W. Sikes; Capt. A. Tulloh), all 48mm (BHM 2465; E 1461) [3]. First about extremely fine, second very fine but edge knocked, last fine, obverse stained (£30-50)

Sir Richard Pakenham (1797-1868), diplomat; b. Pakenham Hall, Castle Pollard, Westmeath; entered Foreign Office 1817; served in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Mexico; appointed Privy Councillor and special envoy to the USA, 1843; took early retirement, 1847; resumed career in Lisbon, 1851; retired to Castle Pollard, 1855.

Sir Charles William Sikes (1818-89), advocator of post office savings banks; b. Huddersfield; joined Huddersfield Banking Co, 1833, becoming managing director in 1881; knighted 1881; lived at Birkby Lodge, Huddersfield.

Alexander Thomas Tulloh, CB, Royal Artillery, d.1886; lived at Waltham Abbey, Essex; Ensign 1818; Lieutenant 1826; Captain 1838; Major 1851; Colonel 1854; Lt-Col. 1861; Major-General 1864; Lt-Gen. 1867
