John O’Neill served with 1 Troop Bombay Horse Artillery at Hyderabad and also at Ghuznee and Cabul for which he also received a medal (known to survive). 1 Troop later received “The Eagle Troop” Honour Title for its services at Hyderabad.
John O’Neill was born in County Down, Ireland, c. 1810, and enlisted at Liverpool in 1829. He was discharged in 1847 suffering from hepatitis.
