Indian Army, Order of the Bath, Military Division, gold and enamel, ring suspension; Order of the Star of India, silver, 18ct. gold and enamel with cameo centre; British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. Oakleaf; General Service 1918-62, 2 clasps, Iraq, S. Persia; Delhi Durbar 1911, silver; Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937; Romania, Order of the Crown, 1st type, 4th class, with swords, silver-gilt and enamel, reverse centre missing, rosette on ribbon; Persia, Order of the Lion and Sun, 4th Class, silver and enamel, rosette on ribbon, mounted as worn, in Spink, London case, very fine and better (10) £240-280

John Henry Foster Lakin was born in 1878 and educated at Haileybury and Sandhurst. He entered the Indian Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1898 and attained the rank of Major-General in 1933. During the Great War he served as D.A.Q.M.G. with the Mesopotamia Expedition Force, September 1917 - January 1918 and A.Q.M.G. with the same force during January 1918 - July 1919 and continued to hold various positions in the region until 1921. He was created a C.S.I. in 1921 and C.B. in 1933. Appointed Colonel of the 4th battalion (P.W.O.) 8th Punjab Regiment in 1933 and Colonel of the 7th Gurkha Rifles in 1937. Major-General Lakin died in 1943.
