E. A. S. Mignon was born on 20 July 1831, at Deesa, Gujerat, India. He passed as Captain’s Clerk on 12 July 1854, then serving in India, having been an acting Clerk for ‘upwards of seven years.’ He later served as Paymaster to the Indian Naval Brigade during the Indian Mutiny in May 1858, and was appointed Purser on 9 October 1858.
