An early 19th century turquoise and diamond necklace, composed of graduating turquoise cabochon and rose-cut diamond clusters, within closed-back settings, mounted in silver and gold, (additional chain extensions to either side of clasp), length 36.5cm. £3,000-£4,000
Turquoise cabochons with typical discolouration associated with age - range of hues from dark green to bright blue. Some with brown discolouration and veining, some white mottled patches and black spots. Diamonds bright - closed-back settings with foxing and discolouration visible. Principal cluster with a hoop visible for drop now deficient. Chain extensions to back suggesting some clusters missing and necklace extended. Clasp secure, tongue possibly a replacement. Some joining links between clusters open. Overall good condition with wear consistent with age. Gross weight 41.8gm.
