A diamond cluster set ring, the 19th century cluster set with an old brilliant-cut diamond within a surround of rose-cut diamonds, in pinched collet settings, mounted in silver and gold, to a later shank, principal diamond approximately 0.60 carat, ring size U. £700-£900

The principal stone is a little uneven in cut, some chipping to the girdle and drawing a slight yellow tint. The rose-cut diamonds show some variation; one has been replaced with a small old brilliant, and at least one is replaced with a flatter rose-cut. The principal stone setting is open back, but the rose-cut surround in closed back settings. The mount shows general wear. Cluster measures 13.5 x 11mm. Shank is a later replacement, stamped ‘18ct, silver’.
